PRESENTATIONÉSENTATION
The Government of Senegal has received funding from the World Bank to implement the Tourism and Enterprise Development Project (PDTE). The development objective of the project (ODP) is to create the necessary conditions to increase private investment in tourism in the borough of Saly and to strengthen business development in Senegal.
In addition, the project aims at complementing other ongoing reforms that promote economic development and, in the long term, to foster job creation by the private sector. It will therefore address the challenges that continue to hamper the competitiveness of the tourism sector and help to alleviate the constraints that hamper business development and export growth.
As set out in the PSE, Senegal relies primarily on private sector-led growth to improve productivity and competitiveness. This project is aligned with the long-term objectives of the PSE as expressed in its component « Accelerating inclusive growth and creating jobs ».
This project has the following 3 components:
- Component A : Développement durable des destinations touristiques, dont l’objectif est de développer le secteur en assurant une diversification et une amélioration de la qualité des produits offerts. Elle financera les activités ci-après : l’assistance technique pour le soutien à la diversification du produit touristique et la promotion de la destination, le renforcement de capacités des institutions d’appui et des travaux de génie civil visant à préserver les infrastructures hôtelières de la station balnéaire de Saly et à protéger le village de pêcheurs de Saly Niakh Niakhal (travaux physiques de restauration, protection et entretien de plages).
- Component B : Appui à la création et à la croissance des entreprises, dont l’objectif est d’améliorer davantage le climat d’investissement du Sénégal en vue de mettre en place des infrastructures efficaces pour faciliter la fourniture de services gouvernementaux aux entreprises, améliorer l’accès au financement et offrir d’autres services d’aide au développement des entreprises. Elle financera la mise en place d’un fonds à frais partagés destiné aux PME, et l’organisation d’un concours annuel de plans d’entreprise.
- Component C : Provide support to APIX-S.A. to manage and coordinate the project and build its capacity in procurement, financial management, coastal zone management, management of environmental and social safeguards, communication, monitoring and evaluation through the provision of relevant advisory services.
